Hello from my home for a month

I left London on 28 June and arrived in Colombo 29 June, long flight then an hour drive to Negombo (home) - i was so tired from the journey but safe I'm sure you'd all like to know?  As I arrived, the beating sun cooked me but what a wonderful little city, bustling people and car horns always honking!  First day of arriving I was feeling home sick and very tried plus the hotel is extremely quiet (that's a good thing!!).  Sir Lankan people are so wonderfully lovely and kind even thou they have nothing (when i say nothing i mean nothing, the pizza restaurant mum and i visited had no toilet roll but really yummy food!)

On the up side everything is cheap ... this computer in a cafe is 60rupees for an hour and 163 rupees = 1pound!!!!! Mum has no concept of the money so I'm in charge at that bit.)

Moving on to 30th June, it rained all last night but what a wonderful sound the rain makes against the roof of the hotel !!  During the day our contact (Prudi) took us (me and mum) to the school where we are to teach, small government ran school.  One teacher in particular i like as her name is Dianee, only because her name in pronounceable!!  The children are preparing for a Roman Catholic celebration too.

This afternoon I'm going shopping to find a source of water and food, mum wants a hat so that too.  A great ride from our Tuk Tuk driver (Anton , easy to remember luckily) to the hotel and school, everywhere and anywhere to be honest.

Well I'm off now to get some tea and water, a look around the shops then well i have no plans, tomorrow I'm working. So I'll love you and leave you ....
